Naked Newsletter VI – Disruptive innovation and simulation hypothesis

Naked Approach is a research project building the hyperconnected world with the sensor revolution. Hyperconnectedness and sensors will radically change the way we perceive, act, do business and interact in the world. Demos Helsinki has published two scenarios about the hyperconnected planet until the year 2040. Download the book for free here.

Inspiration: Is Virtual Reality a disruptive innovation?

Disruption theory is in danger of becoming a victim of its own success. Despite broad dissemination, the theory’s core concepts have been widely misunderstood and its basic tenets frequently misapplied. Relearn it here (HBR).

Check out Roope Mokka’s presentation at Slush on the Internet of no things. Is this a disruption or evolution? You decide!

One interesting prospect for causing a disruption in many markets is Virtual Reality. Read about Nokia’s bold move into virtual reality here (Wired).

When the virtual and augmented reality tools become more common, we’ll start hearing more about the so called simulation hypothesis. The simulation hypothesis states that if a technologically mature “posthuman” civilization that has enormous computing power could simulate realities, then it is more likely that we live in a simulation than that we don’t. Check outthis comic to prepare a counter argument for such a discussion.
